I've see this error on many ruby related builds. 

I've reported one before, see https://bugs.gentoo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=301962.  

Now I got a similar one on while try to install the ruby web server `thin`, and a similar error occurs. This shouldn't happen, isn't it?

What is it anyway? Here is the emerge log:
