Same problem with sys-power/apcupsd-3.14.7 on x86 (but not amd64) with Slovenian locale. I'm not sure what we can do, does it work with C locale? Created attachment 279545 [details, diff]
suggested ebuild patch
This patch has helped on my system. The 0xb7 seems to be the character that was generated for man page 'bullets' and then confused 'col -b'.
I did not investigate what happens precisely; it just works. To tell the truth, I do not understand well why that man pages formatting is needed: none of these generated *.man.txt files were actually installed... Even if I write MANPAGER="echo" in ebuild, apcupsd install well and I still can read 'man apctest' etc afterwards.

sys-power/apcupsd-3.14.8-r1 build failure from amd64 stable
This issue now affects amd64 stable. The suggested solution does not fix it.

emerge --info from amd64 stable system
I'd like to fix this bug before the next stable apcupsd goes out, but I'm not exactly sure what the proposed solution is.... Please test or create a patch against 3.4.10-r4 which is the latest bump as I attempt to close out all the outstanding bugs specific to this ebuild. Suggested patch works well with sys-power/apcupsd-3.14.14. Should be fixed in 3.14.14-r2 |
