Description bruce.veidt 2010-01-20 20:25:05 UTC
Start qucs from command line and get these messages:

~ $ qucs
(1730) findLibraryInternal: plugins should not have a 'lib' prefix: "libkfilemodule.so"
(1730) KPluginLoader::load: The plugin "libkfilemodule" doesn't contain a kde_plugin_verification_data structure

Instead of seeing qucs window, a directory search window appears with
the title: "Sidebar library file". I cannot find this so click cancel.
Warning popup says: "Sidebar won't have any library as you haven't
selected any". Click OK.

Now get qucs window (but title says "Qucs 0.1.0" ???).
Try opening existing schematic that worked with qucs-0.0.15, but
get error: "Unknown file format".

Also, help functionality is missing.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. run qucs
2. try loading existing file
3. try using Help menu
4. try using Project menu
5. try using Tools menu

Actual Results:
See description. The only thing that appears to be working is
the drawing ("painting") tool.

Functions under Project and Tools menus do not work.

Expected Results:
A working application!

Suggest putting qucs-0.0.15 back into portage because that version worked
very well. Mask qucs-0.0.15_p20100115 ~M until it has same functionality.
as qucs-0.0.15 has.

The qucs-qt4 source is not very current: it is dated 03/03/08.
In contrast, the date on qucs-0.0.15 is 24/04/09.
Is migration to qt4 active?

I get the exact same results.

I can't open files and I get an error about the sidebar menu file.

however I sugest Mask qucs-0.0.15_p20100115 ~ instead of ~M until it works as qucs-0.0.15 does and make qucs-0.0.15 available again.

I have same bugs on amd64/
Source used for qucs-0.0.15_p20100115.ebuild isn't full. Why?..! Now qt-3.3.8 in portage tree.
Full source may be found http://sourceforge.net/projects/qucs/files/qucs/0.0.15/qucs-0.0.15.tar.gz/download .
qucs-0.0.15.tar.gz from sourceforge.net compile without any warnings and work perfectly on amd64/qt-3.3.8/qt-core-4.5.3-r2, as non-portage software.

qucs-0.0.15_p20100115.ebuild is useless.

Markos, Samuli,

Since you guys seem to be the ones at the origin of qucs-0.0.15_p20100115, could you please have a look at this?

Thanks in advance,
Denis.

I would like to shortly notice that I've added the ebuild of working (Qt3) qucs into kde-sunset overlay, and I would appreciate masking the portage version with a message acknowledging that and directing the user to the overlay.
Comment 6 Samuli Suominen (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2010-04-13 07:29:47 UTC
I would suggest removing the snapshot from tree per bug 300043, Comment #5 and let people use the kde-sunset version...

Comment 7 Andreas K. Hüttel archtester gentoo-dev 2010-06-30 21:25:29 UTC
There is no file in the current "nightly snapshot" of qucs-qt4 newer than March 2008. For all practical purposes the qt4 port is indeed dead.

Any news on the topic? Maybe it's time to mask the ebuild for removal?
Comment 9 Samuli Suominen (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2010-09-03 19:16:34 UTC
treecleaners: please remove qucs, with a mask message telling users to install the qt3 version from kde-sunset if they really need it

+1. I have same bug too.
Comment 11 Samuli Suominen (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2010-10-18 12:06:34 UTC
Removed from tree. Use the Qt3 version from kde-sunset overlay. Will be restored to Portage soon as upstream Qt4 version is ready, but I wouldn't hold my breath on it... last commit 2008.
