Because I couldn't get any > info about it It's simply a wrapper script that will execute ${EDITOR}, intended for packages like "sudo" that need a default editor. You can test functionality with "/usr/libexec/gentoo-editor <file>", but it's not intended to be executed directly by users. So I don't think we need documentation that goes beyond the comments in the script. > and pointing to www.gentoo.org (HOMEPAGE) leads to nothing in particular. Yes, but we need a non-empty value as its HOMEPAGE. Stable for HPPA. Stable on amd64 All arches done > a wrapper script that will execute ${EDITOR} That would make a nice description for portage. > directly by users. So I don't think we need documentation that goes beyond the > comments in the script. True, but just think - by typing 7 words, one could enable thousands of people people to determine what they are installing without having to download the sources first in order to find out. > > and pointing to www.gentoo.org (HOMEPAGE) leads to nothing in particular. > > Yes, but we need a non-empty value as its HOMEPAGE. If the description contained "a wrapper script that will execute ${EDITOR}", then nobody would be looking for a home page. (In reply to comment #9) > > a wrapper script that will execute ${EDITOR} > > That would make a nice description for portage. That's a good idea. I've updated the DESCRIPTION to "Wrapper script that will execute EDITOR" (avoiding the dollar sign). |
