To clarify, the leakage occurs in wxGTK and affects other applications (including all wxPython ones), fixing it needs the patch applying to wxGTK-2.8.10.1 and and ebuild version bump. Audacity (all beta versions) should then start behaving itself. So this is a wxGTK bug in the 2.8.10.1-r* ebuilds, not an Audacity one. Created attachment 216839 [details, diff]
