Description Hans Meier 2010-01-11 00:04:56 UTC
Could pidgin works with GnuPG keys?

http://xmpp.org/extensions/xep-0027.html

Psi and Gajim have already this feature .

This is a attempt, but don't works good.

https://www.zuhauseall.homeip.net/~michael/pidgin-xep0027/

but this is not updated since 2008-12-02

Well, pgp with IM really isn't the best idea. Using E2E encryption is better (since it also provides perfect forward secrecy, etc). Anyway, this is a bug for upstream.
Comment 2 Hans Meier 2010-01-11 16:20:54 UTC
What is E2E encryption and how to use it in Pidgin?

Other Programms as Psi, Kopete, Gajim, MCabber use GnuPG keys.

It is needed to have encryption compatibility with all IM Programms.

E2E=end-to-end, its currently being standardised. Anyway, its an issue for upstream pidgin devs.

Thanks I have deinstalled pidgin-encryption and use only now pidgin-otr.

It works great and OTR is better as GnuPG keys I think.
