Well, pgp with IM really isn't the best idea. Using E2E encryption is better (since it also provides perfect forward secrecy, etc). Anyway, this is a bug for upstream. What is E2E encryption and how to use it in Pidgin? Other Programms as Psi, Kopete, Gajim, MCabber use GnuPG keys. It is needed to have encryption compatibility with all IM Programms. E2E=end-to-end, its currently being standardised. Anyway, its an issue for upstream pidgin devs. BTW, it is possible to use pgp with pidgin: http://developer.pidgin.im/ticket/288 (vote here) https://www.zuhauseall.homeip.net/~michael/pidgin-xep0027/ http://blog.chavant.info/2009/06/01/gnupg-plugin-for-pidgin But at the end use OTR: http://www.cypherpunks.ca/otr/otr-wpes.pdf Thanks I have deinstalled pidgin-encryption and use only now pidgin-otr. It works great and OTR is better as GnuPG keys I think. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Off-the-Record_Messaging http://www.cypherpunks.ca/otr/ http://www.cypherpunks.ca/otr/help/authenticate.php?lang=en http://www.cypherpunks.ca/otr/help/3.2.0/levels.php?lang=en Thanks I have deinstalled pidgin-encryption and use only now pidgin-otr.
