Umm, I am not sure if it's really needed, seems that it's requested by picasa's wine and its esd plugin, but you should be able to use any other sound plugin (like can be done in system wine) Also, esound is not listed as a RDEPEND Does picasa still work ok for you after removing /opt/google/picasa/3.0/wine/lib/wine/wineesd.drv.so (of course without esd sound plugin ;-)) ? Also, is current stable (2.7.3736.15) also affected by this? (In reply to comment #2) > Does picasa still work ok for you after removing > /opt/google/picasa/3.0/wine/lib/wine/wineesd.drv.so (of course without esd > sound plugin ;-)) ? Seems to work. So we could put an esd flag to picasa, which would make it dep on esound or remove the .so file when disabled. But it seems on amd64 we would have to remove the .so file unconditionally as the emul package no longer provides it. amd64: any plans to put esd libs back to app-emulation/emul-linux-x86-soundlibs, was it a mistake or deliberate action to remove them? It was deliberated since I don't plan to include esound any longer, as it's deprecated since a lot of time. Then, picasa "esd" USE flag should be masked on amd64 (In reply to comment #5) > It was deliberated since I don't plan to include esound any longer, as it's > deprecated since a lot of time. Then, picasa "esd" USE flag should be masked on > amd64 Alright then. Too much hassle with use flags for a deprecated package support. Removed it unconditionally. OK, thanks :-) |
