Description Pacho Ramos gentoo-dev 2009-12-26 13:00:54 UTC
I know that this is an old package, then, if you are not able to solve these issues, feel free to close this (and sorry for the noise of course).

When I merge it I get:
 * QA Notice: Pre-stripped files found:
 * /usr/lib/libstdc++.so.2.8
 * /usr/lib/libstdc++.so.2.7.2
 * /usr/lib/libg++.so.2.7.2
 * /usr/lib/libc.so.5

 * QA Notice: The following shared libraries lack NEEDED entries
 *  /var/tmp/portage/sys-libs/lib-compat-1.4.2/image/usr/lib/libc.so.5

My emerge --info:

Comment 2 Pacho Ramos gentoo-dev 2009-12-26 17:37:45 UTC
Sorry, I opened this more for the :
 * QA Notice: The following shared libraries lack NEEDED entries
 *  /var/tmp/portage/sys-libs/lib-compat-1.4.2/image/usr/lib/libc.so.5

than striping one
Comment 3 Diego Elio Pettenò (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2009-12-26 17:44:54 UTC
That's a false positive.

Obviously the C library will not require any other library.
Comment 4 SpanKY gentoo-dev 2009-12-26 18:03:00 UTC
most modern C libraries have a dependency on the ldso which is why you dont see warnings on newer versions
Comment 5 Pacho Ramos gentoo-dev 2009-12-26 18:06:33 UTC
Thanks for the explanation

But, is there anyway for hiding that QA warning (similar to QA_PRESTRIPPED for example)? It's for using it in app-emulation/emul-linux-x86-compat as it still supplies sys-libs/lib-compat

Thanks a lot again :-)
Comment 6 SpanKY gentoo-dev 2009-12-26 18:08:34 UTC
there is no way to hide the warning, but rather than worry about that, see Bug 246332#1
Comment 7 Pacho Ramos gentoo-dev 2009-12-26 18:25:58 UTC
OK, I am not on that bug

Best regards
