Ir would be nice if 'emerge someapp' would warn me that I may have insufficient disk space.

This could be done by holding the minimum and maximum known sizes for an application.

There is too much involved in this. You'd have to take
into account all the branches that could be made into
mount points. This is too difficult to make well of.
