newlib-1.17.0 was release almost a year ago (2008-12-22).
As usually, the Changelog is pretty long.

For the moment, I have only used it for arm-elf. In order to build it, I added this upstream patch :

I also substitute threads with newlib-multithread since the first doesn't seems to exist anymore.

This bug can be closed. 0.18 has hit the tree.
