Why does src_install manipulate the /etc/sysctl.conf of the live filesystem?  You cannot assume that the user is running src_install on the system which will run the program.  Additionally, changing system settings silently is not nice.

We don't do live ebuilds in Portage, so latest git snapshot should do,
