I can confirm this behaviour. The only way to get a background image in kdm is by using the themed greeter. Please attach the following infos : - emerge --info - /var/log/kdm.log thanks in advance @scarab: X11 issue ? Created attachment 213572 [details]

There are the requested logs. The attached kdm.logs do not contain anything useful, the errors present were/are present always (I am using nvidia-drivers). The same problem here; using kdm-4.3.5, xorg-server-1.6.5-r1 and ati-drivers. The background is black, but when I log in, the desired background image is visible for a split second. Have you tried kde-4.4.2 already? It seems like this problem disappear in time. With kdm-4.4.2-r2 and xorg-server-1.8.0 everything works as expected. The separate call xloadimage is not necessary anymore. OK, resolving then. Feel free to reopen if the problem comes back... |
