Bug 295799 – sys-auth/consolekit: init.d doesn't show errors when it fails to start

From time to time I get in some of my machines consolekit init.d script failing to start, but no error is shown in console or logs. I need to manually drop "-q" option from start-stop-daemon call even when it shouldn't be needed since start-stop-daemon man page says that errors should be shown even with that option.

I am not sure if this is a problem of start-stop-daemon, consolekit or if "-q" should be simply dropped.

consolekit does not seem to have any setting to show more or less output on the console other than --debug. You say dropping -q from init script shows errors when it fails to start but what about when it succeeds ? Also, the -q option seems to not be implemented in openrc, maybe that's why I've never had this problem myself.

When it success it behaves exactly as currently, I mean, no cruft if shown at all :-)

(and yes, I still use baselayout-1)

Looks like consolekit init.d script is still using "-q" but, since consolekit hasn't failed to start due other reasons for months, I even forget this problem :-/

This has been fixed, the init scripts were simplified in 1.0
