This bug should be marked as a duplicate of 295260. mysql needs name resolution for: - ACL checks - replication if hostnames are used in either. Will BIND built and configured with USE=mysql actually fail to start if MySQL is not available? Or will it just reconnect to the DB at some point later? alunduil: No, it is NOT a dupe of that bug, that's a separate but related issue. I fixed it in bind 9.4.3_p5-r1, 9.6.2_p2-r1, 9.7.1_p2-r1 and above. The new mysql-init-2* scripts also make this entirely optional. Read the config files to figure out what you need. |
