Have you seen the "SEE ALSO" paragraph in the man page? It says that the *full* manual is available via "info coreutils 'ls invocation'". There, in section "10.1.2 What information is listed" you can find this: For each directory that is listed, preface the files with a line `total BLOCKS', where BLOCKS is the total disk allocation for all files in that directory. The block size currently defaults to 1024 bytes, but this can be overridden (*note Block size::). The BLOCKS computed counts each hard link separately; this is arguably a deficiency. So, the manpage links to the full manual which contains the information you need. I think that counts as not having to use google. ;) Created attachment 211073 [details]

(In reply to comment #3) > Well, in that case: please show me that reference in the attached output of > 'man ls'. > No need to get testy. It is obviously not there. We don't translate these things, so here are a few pointers on who to contact: "BUGS MELDEN Berichten Sie Fehler an <bug-fileutils@gnu.org>." "Last-Translator: Michael Piefel <piefel@informatik.hu-berlin.de>\n" "Language-Team: German <translation-team-de@lists.sourceforge.net>\n" (In reply to comment #5) > (In reply to comment #3) > > Well, in that case: please show me that reference in the attached output of > > 'man ls'. > > No need to get testy. Sorry, it was not ment to be sarcastic! Maybe the fact that English isn't my native tongue explains this misunderstanding. ;-) |
