sci-libs/hdf5-1.6.4 is missing dependencies such as openssl in its DEPEND variable. sci-libs/hdf5-1.6.7 appears not to have this problem.

possible solution: stabilizing sci-libs/hdf5-1.6.7 and dropping sci-libs/hdf5-1.6.4

1.6.7 has shown many problems and failures. I would rather wait a few weeks and stabilize 1.8.4 and focus our efforts on that release.
