Summary is clear enoug, I guess. :)

Another annoying issue is, that there is still the _dead_wrong_ pkg_setup() check in the ebuild. In fact, it is recommended to update PostgreSQL first and use the more recent pg_dump utility to dump databases.

Not really, but I found the problem and fixed it

Patches welcome. Also the postgresql ebuilds are on the way out in favour of the postgresql-{base,server} ebuilds, so best to focus on those.
