Description simon 2009-11-04 17:46:05 UTC
qdvdauthor 2.0.0 has been released Oct 11, 2009, but is not in portage yet.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1.
2.
3.

The current ebuild for version 1.11.1 works with USE flags -xine +mplayer, but didn't work with +xine for me. Also, there is a problem with the templates installed in /usr/share/qdvdauthor/buttons/Gel-gruen/*, which have non-C, non-uft-8 filenames, but these can be renamed easily.

YES. QDVDauthor 2.1 is an excellent package and should be bumped
from 1.11.1 to the latest version (2.1)....

Qdvdauthor is a Qt3 application. I think there is no reason saving this application

And as such it will be removed from portage. It should be added to kde-sunset overlay for people who want to hang on to this.

I have an ebuild ready for 2.1. I did not commit it because most parts of it are still based on qt3.

I thought I fixed this for media-video/qdvdauthor-1.11.1.

Parts of it are already qt4, but it will take some time until it is fully based on qt4.

qdvdauthor is now masked:
# Markos Chandras <hwoarang@gentoo.org> (14 Jan 2010)
# Qt3 only application. bug #291878 and bug #283429
# Will be moved to kde-sunset overlay on 2010-02-14"

I think it would be good to help people that are still using it finding an alternative. There are not that much options in the tree. I've just finished browsing through media-video, and found three apps for authoring DVDs: 2mandvd, devede, and tovid.

Maybe one should include these three names in the commentary cited above (from package.mask), because this is what you see when you update world.

"# Policy for remaining ebuilds depending on qt:3 #
...
* if no Qt4 version exists, check for equivalent/replacement packages,
and mask by 2010-02-21"

Thanks.

Yes you are right. I will adjust the message. I ve only used 2mandvd so I list this one as a good Qt4 replacement

Please add also any other alternative, because 2mandvd is ~arch-only.
