Looking at the Xorg.log is see the following: XAA Render acceleration unsupported on Radeon 9500/9700 and newer. Please use EXA instead. Render acceleration disabled So, thing are working with render acceleration disabled. Setting render acceleration to EXA (enabling it) causes the X to server freeze within a few seconds. There is no error message in Xorg.log You dont have to cc yourself, since you are creator you always get a mail :P Ok nice log you have, but i would need to see the log for EXA enabled :] Also would you mind testing =xf86-video-ati-9999 (it is located in x11 overlay) Created attachment 209319 [details]
Xorg.log with EXA enabled
(1) Here is the log with EXA enabled.
(2) I do not recall adding myself on the cc list.
Certainly, that was not done intentionally.
(3) I will try xf86-video-ati-9999 and report back.
xf86-video-ati-9999 works :) No X server freeze after ~15 min. With 6.12.4, X freezes within a few second of attempting to launch any application; (oddly enough KDE and the applets start normally). Could you paste the xorg.log for the 9999 driver too... I guess there is some issue with composite extension in old drivers so you can try use the 6.12.4 with: Section "Extensions" Option "Composite" "Disable" EndSection in your xorg.conf Created attachment 209383 [details]
Xorg.conf for x11-drivers/xf86-video-ati-9999
Here you go.
I added latest snapshots that should work peachy for you even with exa. I will consider this bug as fixed, since upstream fixed it obviously, sadly i have no idea what patch to backport so just update :] |
