They are binary only drivers, nothing we can fix even if we wanted to. Use xf86-video-nv and uninstall nvidia-drivers. Discussion belongs to http://forums.gentoo.org/ Created attachment 209150 [details]
xorg.conf file
What changes do i need to do?
IMHO I think i've been very clear in my explanation... i know that nvidia has closed software and that they wont free it so the community can solve this issue. On the other hand, after your reply... your suggestion of using nv has confused me. I thought nv didn't support 3d hardware acceleration. Is this issue solved? Is the nv driver working fine? Is it better to mask xorg-server-1.7.1 or to use nv? Have i got to change my /etc/X11/xorg.conf configuration? I've attached my actual xorg.conf... do i need to change only the nvidia line with nv, or do i need to change something else? Sorry about the bunch of questions... i won't mind if you redirect me to www.google.com, but i would be grateful if you help me in this issue. Sorry about the duplicate post... firefox refreshed twice, and some conflicts had to be solved... :( Sorry again... i didn't notice you redirected me to the gentoo forum. I am really sorry about this... I didn't wanted to be ungrateful. For googlers that need help or more info about this issue: http://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic-p-6041340.html#6041340 |
