The log from the crash: ~workspace/.metadata/.log
Does it occur in clean installation or you added some plugins? (qt-related?) (In reply to comment #2) > Does it occur in clean installation or you added some plugins? (qt-related?) > In the past I added some plugin, but when it started not to work anymore I think I uninstalled everything in order to have a subsequent clean install. May be I missed to delete something qt-related? I don't know how to check. Thanks, fabio You should try moving your ~/.eclipse away (or whererever do you create the workspaces in). > You should try moving your ~/.eclipse away (or whererever do you create the

Caster, the .eclipse folder is very different from the workspace folder - they don't contain the same data at all).
So try to move away the .eclipse folder AND the workspace folder (creating a new workspace).

No, .eclipse is NOT: there is a hidden .metadata folder inside it.
(In reply to comment #7) > > Both .eclipse and workspace are empty directories. > > No, .eclipse is NOT: there is a hidden .metadata folder inside it. > It is in my home. Maybe I had already erased the contents to try that workaround. (In reply to comment #1) The XPCOM error part looks like bug #283594. I had similar error messages in ~workspace/.metadata/.log with xulrunner-1.9.1 until I upgraded to eclipse 3.5 (with the ebuilds in bug #275375). I guess eclipse 3.4 should depend on xulrunner<1.9.1 (see http://www.eclipse.org/swt/faq.php#browserlinux), but that would be a separate bug. You say that reinstalling swt-3.4-r4 did not help? (In reply to comment #10) > You say that reinstalling swt-3.4-r4 did not help? > I was triggering this bug with swt-3.4.1. swt-3.4-r4 works like a charm. Created attachment 211268 [details] Log file Apparently the same bug. I've tried to reinstall swt. eclipse 3.5 from eclipse website works OK. PORTAGE_COMPRESS, PORTAGE_COMPRESS_FLAGS, PORTAGE_RSYNC_EXTRA_OPTS I have this bug aswell, started eclipse a couple of days ago (for the first time since spring 2009), started fine, though it crashed right after i deleted a warning in the message window. After that, it crashes on startup every time, tried to move the .eclipse and workspace folders in /home, tried to re-emerge eclipse, uninstalling eclipse checking that all the configs was gone before reemerging and reemerging... The only plugins i use is the pydev extension. |
