when trying to build gnome-base/gnome-2.4, control-center-2.4.0 attempts to 
build before gnome-base/libbonobo-2.4.0, gnome-base/libbonoboui-2.4.0 and 
gnome-base/ORBit2-2.8.1 causing the ebuild to fail. You may wish to have 
control-center-2.4.0 set to build after the above files when building gnome-2.4 

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1.ACCEPT_KEYWORDS="~x86" sudo emerge -vp gnome 
2.control-center-2.4.0 exits compile with an error mentioning Orbit2 and 
libbonobo 
3. 
Actual Results:  
control-center-2.4.0 exits compile with an error mentioning Orbit2 and 
libbonobo 

Expected Results:  
build gnome-base/libbonobo-2.4.0, gnome-base/libbonoboui-2.4.0 and 
gnome-base/ORBit2-2.8.1 first then control-center-2.4.0

can you attach the output you refer to ?

I think this is another occasion where the bonobo-activation block is removed too early.

I have already installed gnome-2.4 so I don't know how to backtrack without unmerging. However, I can tell you that it failed with the 2.2 bonobo-activation still installed, it just did not die as quickly as when I had unmerged the 2.2 bonobo-activation. The issue is that gnome-2.4 only installed properly when control-center-2.4 was emerged after libbonobo-2.4, libbonoboui-2.4 and Orbit2 where emerged.

See Bugzilla Bug 28583 "control-center-2.4.0 failure to compile" for my error message when trying to compile control-center-2.4.0 with 2.2 bonobo-activation still installed. I should have the last message on this bug.

humm that is definitly not the same problem.
