wicd doesn't have "provide net" in it's init script depend{} so services with depend{ need net} doesn't work, despite the fact, that access to network is available.

Yes, you are correct. But I'm interested to see how you hit this problem? Would you mind explaining what happened on your system?

Timeout.

network manager doesn't 'provide net' either. So, I'm not going to fix something that I don't know why. You should have net.lo enabled and that provides net anyway.
