There's a couple of patches in the thread linked to in URL. We need a bit more here. Are you experiencing the same error messages as the thread? If so, did you test the patch in the thread? http://patchwork.kernel.org/patch/54414/ Can you post your dmesg with debugging enabled? I am the same Timothy Miller that started that thread. Jeff sent me that patch directly, and I hope to test it out tomorrow. In the short term, adding "noserverino" to the mount options works around the problem. I humbly apologize for taking so long on this. I tried Jeff Layton's patch, and it fixed the problem. (In reply to comment #4) > I humbly apologize for taking so long on this. > > I tried Jeff Layton's patch, and it fixed the problem. > Which patch are you referring to? This one: http://lists.samba.org/archive/linux-cifs-client/2009-October/005346.html ? Can you please test this patch and let us know. I want to get a new 2.6.31-rX gentoo-sources out and I would like to include this. http://git.kernel.org/?p=linux/kernel/git/torvalds/linux-2.6.git;a=commitdiff_plain;h=ec06aedd44541129840ed52e6165afa3796a27bf Well, I tried applying that patch, but it failed to apply. Also, I'd been using a patched -r3 that was able to mount samba shares, but -r6 (without Layton's patch) is broken. I'm going to see if I can apply HIS patch to -r6 to see if I can get it working again. Just to be clear, the patch I'm referring to that fixed the problem for me (also with -r6) is mentioned here: http://patchwork.kernel.org/patch/54414/ Can you please test this patch and let me know if it solves the problem: http://git.kernel.org/?p=linux/kernel/git/torvalds/linux-2.6.git;a=commitdiff_plain;h=ec06aedd44541129840ed52e6165afa3796a27bf As far as I can tell, this problem has been resolved in the 2.6.32 kernel. There are still minor out-standing issues that Jeff Layton is aware of. So if you're just moving on to 2.6.32 and not interested in fixing 2.6.31, then you might as well close this bug. |
