It might be related to the (old) KDE bug https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=145123 What's your kde version, and does this problem still happen with 4.3.5 ??? (In reply to comment #2) > What's your kde version, and does this problem still happen with 4.3.5 ??? > I can confirm the problem. However retrying does not help. The kde version is 4.3.5 $ uname -v -r 2.6.31-gentoo-r10 #1 SMP PREEMPT Sun Mar 28 13:35:03 CEST 2010 The following workaround was inspired from a posting at the old KDE bug https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=145123 As a workaround (on kde 4.3.5) you can start dolphin from the command line with $ KDE_FORK_SLAVES=true dolphin (Adding this to the K-Menu-entry works aswell.) KDE_FORK_SLAVE=${i} with ${i} beeing one of "false", "0", "1", and "something" works as well. Maybe KDE_FORK_SLAVE is believed to be set, whenever it contains any string? Maybe one of the more experienced users can help here? Claes, can you test the workaround? Is there anything special about the server that you are connecting to? I.e., is it scp-only? See also https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=145123 https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=205763 https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=164624 How about kde-4.4.4? I also have this problem. I have 2 (stable and up-to-date) Gentoo amd64 systems, both with konqueror and dolphin 4.4.5. One system has a full-blown KDE desktop, and works fine. The other system only has the KDE libs and some applications (desktop is XFCE4). Despite that portage warns me that I have to install kdebase-runtime-meta or kdebase-startkde, dolphin and konqueror have worked fine before. Using KDE_FORK_SLAVE also works. ps. It is not only fish, every protocol fails. Upgrading to 4.5.1 does not solve the problem, neither does emerging kdebase-runtime-meta. How about kde-4.6.2? Not a regression compared to 4.4, so does not block stabilization No reply for two months |
