Ah yes, im using version 0.10.23 of media-plugins/gst-plugins-gnomevfs Which version of totem are you using? If 2.24*, please try 2.26 (latest stable on amd64). I'm surprised banshee _still_ uses gnome-vfs. The dep may be inaccurate. In any case, this is probably a bug with gnome-vfs + auth smb shares. If that's the case, it's unlikely to be fixed. Im using the 2.26.2 version of totem. After asking in irc.gnome.org, i heard that banshee loses that dep in 1.4.3-r4 whereas in portage 1.4.3-r2 is the latest stable. Would be great if someone pushes the ebuild for that. Are you still suffering this with media-plugins/gst-plugins-gnomevfs-0.10.29 ? yes Don't use gst-plugins-gnomevfs, get gst-plugins-gio instead I know, but gnome-vfs is iirc still a banshee dep. And if its installed its chosen over every other plugin. Everytime i try to watch a vid from a smb share i have to unmerge gst-plugins-gnomevfs just to get it back afert doing emerge -avNDu world. Thats the real problem The ranking was swapped in the gst-plugins-base-0.10.29 release (which are stable on x86/amd64), so if you have both gst-plugins-gio-0.10.29 and gst-plugins-gnomevfs-0.10.29 installed - gio will be used by autopluggers or for satisfying protocols supported by both. I realize this wasn't the case back when this bug was reported. Ah good, i cant try it atm but i guess this bug is fixed then :) |
