In the past there would be a long list of rejected modes, that could be made to work by tweaking xorg.conf . This time the tweaks have no effect.

Xorg.0.log with the openchrome driver
xf86-video-openchrome-0.2.904 (currently ~x86) succeeds but is dangerous with 3D apps.
xf86-video-openchrome-0.2.903 fails to find any modes. No logs, sorry.
