(In reply to comment #1) > please attach all this stuff to the report. Done!!! Please try using xf86-video-vesa instead of unichrome. You'll need to change your xorg.conf for that. Thanks (In reply to comment #8) > Please try using xf86-video-vesa instead of unichrome. You'll need to change > your xorg.conf for that. > Thanks I get a dbus_g_proxy_connect_signal: assertion 'DBUS_IS_G_PROXY (proxy)' failed error when startx as user from keyboard, not ssh Are you able to start a simple X session (twm, fluxbox, whatever) using start X or GDM? (In reply to comment #10) > Are you able to start a simple X session (twm, fluxbox, whatever) using start X > or GDM? No, startx fails. I am on the gentoo channel and someone suggested I not use xorg.conf and let hal do the management. I did an mv of xorg.conf and now I cannot even get to the background. Here is an additional error from the dbus and yes, I did unmerge and remerge dbus to get rid of the error, but it is still there.. there is a second error under the dbus gnome-session: symbol lookup +error: /usr/lib64/gtk-2.0/modules/libcanerra-gtk-modules.so: undefined +symbol: ca_gtk_play_for_widget (In reply to comment #11) > (In reply to comment #10) > > Are you able to start a simple X session (twm, fluxbox, whatever) using start X > > or GDM? > No, startx fails. > I am on the gentoo channel and someone suggested I not use xorg.conf and let > hal do the management. > I did an mv of xorg.conf and now I cannot even get to the background. > Here is an additional error from the dbus and yes, I did unmerge and remerge > dbus to get rid of the error, but it is still there.. > there is a second error under the dbus gnome-session: symbol lookup > +error: /usr/lib64/gtk-2.0/modules/libcanerra-gtk-modules.so: undefined > +symbol: ca_gtk_play_for_widget gdm as user fails with Sep 29 11:46:20 Gentoo-box1 gdm[9744]: WARNING: GDM file gdm-daemon-config.c: line 2041 (): Cannot run seteuid to 0: Operation not permitted This ticket hasn't been updated in a while and is still missing a lot of mandatory default informations.
