Portage tries to resume patches-2.4.20-gentoo-r5.tar.bz2 even after it is fully
retrieved.  The result is an infinite loop.  Trying to bunzip2 this file (and
the r7 version) results in a "file ended too soon" error.  Corrupt files
uploaded to mirrors.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Delete /usr/distfiles/patches-2.4.20-gentoo-r5.tar.bz2
2. emerge -f =gentoo-sources-2.4.20-r7
3.

this could have something to do with me and plasmaroo working on the 
same thing at the same time, apparently we both uploaded tarballs, but he 
beat me to the cvs commit by a few minutes

iggy: your tarball was never used in the ebuild so did nothing wrong :-)

tseng was the one who screwed it [patches-5] up. I've uploaded a fresh non-corrupt copy to the main mirror, and I've also mirror the patches at http://dev.gentoo.org/~plasmaroo

The problem is that I don't know how long it will take it to sync...
