Description Jose Maria Garcia Perez 2009-09-14 08:45:21 UTC
First I consider this bug would better go in http://roy.marples.name/projects/openrc rather than here. (I apologize for that)

Executing:
   /etc/init.d/net.eth0 restart
complains saying:
   /etc/init.d/net.eth0: line 510: _exists: command not found

When I execute:
   strings /sbin/rc | grep RC_LIBDIR
it outputs nothing.

If I modify /etc/init.d/net.lo stating:
   MODULESDIR="/lib/rc/net"

The issue gets resolved. So it looks like if:
   RC_LIBDIR = /lib/rc
is not hardcoded within /sbin/rc

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
More or less what follows:
git clone git://roy.marples.name/openrc.git
cd openrc
make install
(reboot)
/etc/init.d/net.eth0 restart

Actual Results:
/etc/init.d/net.eth0: line 510: _exists: command not found

Expected Results:
No error

Thanks for reporting your fix. As far as I can tell, upstream Roy Marples does want bugs reported here - he gets cc-ed on all openrc bugs and I didn't find a way for users to open new tickets in his issue tracker. Roy can enlighten us if that is not the case :)

You need an OpenID to use my site now - too many spambots messing with my trac :/
Once logged in via OpenID, you can create tickets and such.

You're using an old net.lo script - RC_LIBDIR was changed to RC_LIBEXECDIR in a few places. I'm guessing you used an ebuild without MKOLDNET=yes passed to the make and install targets.

Re: You're using an old net.lo script - RC_LIBDIR was changed to RC_LIBEXECDIR in a few places. I'm guessing you used an ebuild without MKOLDNET=yes passed to the make and install targets.

That's not a solution, the solution is to update to a newer net.lo script. This means updating openrc, which I tried, but still get the same error.

Comment 6 SpanKY gentoo-dev 2009-10-24 09:31:35 UTC
you overwrote your files yourself with `make install`. we really cant help you clean up your system once you did that. use the ebuilds *only* or seek help in the forums.

net.eth0 needs to be a *symlink* to net.lo which is installed by the ebuild.
