I have a "FUJITSU MHZ2250BJ FFS G2" HD in my DELL notebook and it would be very nice to have this model added to /usr/share/hddtemp/hddgentoo.db installed by app-admin/hddtemp.

The line to be added:

"FUJITSU MHZ2250BJ FFS G2"					194 C "FUJITSU MHZ2250BJ FFS G2"

I'm fairly certain Gentoo has nothing to do with the updating of the hddtemp.db file. Your "bug" report would be better filed with the author of the hddtemp program - specifically by filing a bug report on their site:

I'm not sure how long it takes for such updates to get pushed out though, so it may be a while. Personally I just edit my own /usr/share/hddtemp/hddtemp.db file and add whatever hard drives I have that aren't recognized.

But gentoo keeps a second database in /usr/share/hddtemp/hddgentoo.db with additional drivers. This file is mantained by gentoo.

According to the comment http://bugs.gentoo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=273544#c2, it seems that it is difficult to get new disks included in upstream db.

Heh, ya sorry I only just discovered that myself after taking a look in the ebuild and then distfiles to take a look at it. Makes sense that it's hard to commit upstream though. Ah well - adding them myself is still faster right now I suppose :P

Added, thanks for submitting a new entry for the hdd database.

Regarding your comments, yes, upstream has been quite slow with adding new devices into the database, so we are maintaining our own supplementary hdd database in Gentoo.  Submissions are most welcome, as they save time for other users having the same hardware.
