this concerns sys-apps/texinfo 
 
@centerchap is a documented command of texinfo, but 
makeinfo does not handle it.  I have a patch for that 
which I also submitted upstream to the bug-texinfo list. 

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. get the tla tarball: emerge tla -f 
2. tar zxf /usr/portage/distfile/tla...gz 
3. cd tla.../src/docs-tla/texi 
4. makeinfo arch.texi 
Actual Results:  
makeinfo complains 

Expected Results:  
there should be no complain and makeinfo should succeed

This patch should be applied with epatch when unpacking

I should have mentioned that this is a patch against texinfo-4.6
