Description Colonel Paneek 2009-08-25 22:38:40 UTC
decibel-audio-player depends on gst-plugins-good

If it is not installed then decibel produces the following message when an attempt is made to play a mp3

** Message: don't know how to handle application/x-id3

Reproducible: Always
Comment 1 nm (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2009-08-26 07:20:56 UTC
Nope. Decibel quite rightly depends on gst-plugins-meta. The USE flags of gst-plugins-meta determine the kinds of files your Gstreamer installation can play. Decibel plays back whatever media your Gstreamer package is built with.

Next time, please read the elog output from when you emerged Decibel; if you had, you would have seen this message:

Please read the Decibel guide at
http://www.gentoo.org/proj/en/desktop/sound/decibel.xml; it contains
information on how to enable various features and audio formats.

Specifically, http://www.gentoo.org/proj/en/desktop/sound/decibel.xml#doc_chap2

Not a bug; closing.
