Bug 281881 – sys-fs/udev-145 "respawning too fast" no tty

With udev-145 I got a message like:

INIT: Id "x" respawning too fast: disabled for 5 minutes

it also mentioned /dev/tty[1-4] or so in there.

Anyway, boot finished with a single terminal login prompt and no X. Downgrading to udev-141-r1 solved the problem again. Kernel is 2.6.26-gentoo-r1 with inotify:

I know this might not be a good solution but I stumbled about this problem as well on my router with vanilla 2.6.25.20 kernel. I got rid of the problem after I upgraded the kernel to vanilla 2.6.27 series.

Your kernel has
CONFIG_SYSFS_DEPRECATED=y
CONFIG_SYSFS_DEPRECATED_V2=y

that udev will not run with!
