emerge ifc fails due to dependency on lzma-4.32.7 which fails to create an executable.

AFAIK only gcc 4.3 and later know -march=core2. The ones available in gcc 4.1 series are listed, e.g., over here:

You are trying to use cflags that your compiler doesn't understand if I read that correctly. Please stop doing that :)
