Thanks for reporting this version conflict, assigning to maintainers. Thanks for the report and the info! In proftpd-1.3.2a ebuild (just committed), I updated the kerberos dependency to: || ( <app-crypt/mit-krb5-1.7 app-crypt/heimdal ) (which will probably pick up heimdal for you then) It looks to me as if the required functionality was just moved to libk5crypto. I just removed "-ldes425" from modules/mod_gss.c and modules/mod_auth_gss.c and it builds without errors. Haven't checked though whether it also runs fine but I don't see why it shouldn't. So couldn't we just fix the linking process? Using heimdal is not an option for me as I have custom extensions to MIT krb5. (In reply to comment #3) > So couldn't we just fix the linking process?
