Hi,

your packages metadata.xml is missing a <herd> tag. Quoting from the Gentoo Developer Handbook, Chapter 4
http://www.gentoo.org/proj/en/devrel/handbook/handbook.xml?part=2&chap=4

<quote>
There must at least be one herd subtag. The contents of this tag must be the name of a herd as specified in the herds.xml file or the "no-herd" herd. It must occur at least once.
</quote>

Thanks.

well, i consider the handbook wrong then, since <herd>no-herd</herd> is quite redundant: if there is no <herd> tag, this already (pretty clearly) says: there is no herd! if it is really desired behaviour, QA should fix it.
Comment 2 Thilo Bangert (RETIRED) (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2009-07-26 18:20:04 UTC
you seem to be in the minority. out of roughly 13000 packages only 40 currently don't have a herd tag, while roughly 2000 have a herd tag of "no-herd". (4 ebuilds have a empty herd tag). of the ~10 bugs filled in this regard so far, more than half were fixed within hours...

you are of course entitled to the opinion that the current policy is wrong. telling me, to work towards changing it, so that it suits your world view seems to be a bit of a stretch, however.

i think you misunderstood me. if the no-herd tag is desired, than QA should feel free to fix my packages and add this tag. you don't have to convince everyone of the correct solution, neither do i have time for this.

anyway, i have fixed it for shish.

ok - sorry. yes i misunderstood. the reason for filing these bugs is educational. ;-)

anyway - i fixed

hollow@gentoo.org app-portage/porticron
hollow@gentoo.org dev-util/metro
hollow@gentoo.org mail-filter/dovecot-antispam
hollow@gentoo.org sys-process/incron

for you.
