Attach whole build log.
Also try with MAKEOPTS="-j1".

I had this problem but it does build ok with MAKEOPTS="-j1".

I've since rebuilt this PC including performing the following:

emerge @system
emerge @world
revdep-rebuild (multiple times)

I believe the problem is resolved. I no longer have a PC matching these original conditions for testing with "-j1" compiler option.
