as for gcc 4.4 porting note that there has been reports on compilation problems
with lyx-1.6.3, boost 1.37/8 (qt-4.5.1/2 but most probably unrelated).

It's probably better to open a bug for lyx and another one for boost.

Indeed. Please file single bugs for every issue, otherwise it turns into a horribly confusing mess with a dozen people commenting and omg ponies aaaah! ;)

(Sorry. Got distracted. Just wanted to say that multi-issue bugs are bad ...)

sorry i was probably not clear - to restate:
there were reports that lyx is not compilable with the following configuration:
gcc 4.4, boost 1.37/8, qt-4.5.1/2
