Had massive problems after upgrading to xorg-server-1.5.3-r5 from xorg-server-1.5.3-r4, too. Masking xorg-server-1.5.3-r5 helped. kdm started, but after entering username/password kdm crashed: kdm[3266] general protection ip:415595 sp:7fff218bc6f0 error:0 in kdm[400000+28000] Similar problems on gdm. Please update your xorg-server to 1.6, rebuild your X drivers using the following command : emerge -1 $(qlist -IC x11-drivers/) and finally make sure in your xorg.conf to enable UXA in the Device section Thanks No changes after update. Everything same, no xorg just _ symbol in screen. Please attach your Xorg.0.log after the update. Thanks Created attachment 196370 [details]

Because of other 1.6 bugs xorg downgrade instructions would be nice too ty. (II) intel(0): I830CheckAvailableMemory: 448508 kB available drmOpenDevice: node name is /dev/dri/card0 drmOpenDevice: open result is -1, (No such device or address) drmOpenDevice: open result is -1, (No such device or address) drmOpenDevice: Open failed [drm] failed to load kernel module "i915" (WW) intel(0): Failed to open DRM device You're missing the i915 kernel driver. Please add it and try again. xf86-video-intel-2.7 isn't really good if the kernel driver is missing. 2.8 should behave much better. Thanks I had that draiver in kernel. I think I will try it as module and disable that strange new flag... Nice it works as module. Thanks for help. Kinda solved. *** Bug 276237 has been marked as a duplicate of this bug. *** |
