Try with 2.2.4, 2.1 is a bit outdated 2.2.4 build successful. if 2.1.4-r1 is outdated and not installable maybe it can be removed from portage? Either removal or fixing the deps of 2.1.x versions... anyway, that's up to the package maintainers... Patch to compile VirtualBox with latest kernel and OS
You need run it in console before compile:
# ln -s /usr/src/linux/include/generated/autoconf.h /usr/src/linux/include/linux/autoconf.h
# mv /usr/include/linux/swab.h /usr/include/linux/swab2.h
# cd VirtualBox-2.1.4_OSE/src/VBox/Devices/Storage
# cp swab.h /usr/include/linux/swab.h
After compation:
# rm /usr/include/linux/swab.h
# mv /usr/include/linux/swab2.h /usr/include/linux/swab.h
