Description sysrqalt 2009-06-26 03:46:28 UTC
Eucalyptus - Elastic Utility Computing Architecture for Linking Your Programs To Useful Systems - is an open-source software infrastructure for implementing "cloud computing" on clusters. The current interface to Eucalyptus is compatible with Amazon's EC2, S3, and EBS interfaces, but the infrastructure is designed to support multiple client-side interfaces. Eucalyptus is implemented using commonly available Linux tools and basic Web-service technologies making it easy to install and maintain.

Reproducible: Always

Very interesting product. I'd be willing to help someone put together an ebuild although I don't know much about deploying java apps.

Is anyone currently working on this? I am looking into compiling Eucalyptus for PPC64. It would make sense for me to see how to create ebuilds at the same time. If there is an existing effort I would be willing to join and provide man power.

An ebuild for euca2ools (the Eucalyptus client-side tools).

Tested on PPC64 (IBM JS20 blade centre) and X86 (in a VM - some warnings from makefile but compile succeeds).

This is my first ebuild attempt so please do let me know if anything is awry.

Will post Eucalyptus server-side ebuilds as I get them sorted out.
