Description Robert Bradbury 2009-06-21 18:23:52 UTC
sys-libs

Also, when trying to check "security" as the bug category it says to use "Gentoo Security / Vulnerabilities", neither of which are listed in the "Component" section of the "enter_bug.cgi form".

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Undefine "nls" as a USE option (-nls)
2. emerge pam

Actual Results:
/bin/sh ../../libtool --tag=CC --mode=compile gcc -DHAVE_CONFIG_H -I. -I../.. -I../../libpam/include -I../../libpamc/include -O2 -march=prescott -pipe -W -Wall -Wbad-function-cast -Wcast-align -Wcast-qual -Wmissing-declarations -Wmissing-prototypes -Wpointer-arith -Wreturn-type -Wstrict-prototypes -Wwrite-strings -Winline -Wshadow -c -o pam_lastlog.lo pam_lastlog.c
libtool: compile: gcc -DHAVE_CONFIG_H -I. -I../.. -I../../libpam/include -I../../libpamc/include -O2 -march=prescott -pipe -W -Wall -Wbad-function-cast -Wcast-align -Wcast-qual -Wmissing-declarations -Wmissing-prototypes -Wpointer-arith -Wreturn-type -Wstrict-prototypes -Wwrite-strings -Winline -Wshadow -c pam_lastlog.c -fPIC -DPIC -o .libs/pam_lastlog.o
pam_lastlog.c: In function 'last_login_failed':
pam_lastlog.c:474: error: 'daysleft' undeclared (first use in this function)

Expected Results:
Pam should be able to compile without "nls". (This is a "classic" problem that packages are released without testing all of the build options being both "on" and "off". Building without "nls" enabled is a standard option that people would use to build systems which are smaller because they do not require any internationalization features (just as "doc" is a feature that people often enable but has failed in packages I have emerged in the past)).

Emerge is successful if one modifies package.use to set nls for sys-libs/pam. But the bug should be fixed in the upstream sources.
