Description Alexandre Rostovtsev (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2009-06-20 23:39:52 UTC
policykit-0.92 has a substantially different interface from policykit-0.9

In particular:
* /usr/lib/libpolkit.so, /usr/lib/libpolkit-dbus.so and /usr/lib/libpolkit-grant.so were removed
* /usr/lib/pkgconfig/polkit.pc, /usr/lib/pkgconfig/polkit-grant.pc, /usr/lib/pkgconfig/polkit-dbus.pc were removed

This causes build failures with packages that depend on policykit-0.9:

# emerge gconf
[...]
checking for DEFAULTS... configure: error: Package requirements (glib-2.0 gobject-2.0 dbus-1 dbus-glib-1 polkit-dbus) were not met:

No package 'polkit-dbus' found

Consider adjusting the PKG_CONFIG_PATH environment variable if you
installed software in a non-standard prefix.

Alternatively, you may set the environment variables DEFAULTS_CFLAGS
and DEFAULTS_LIBS to avoid the need to call pkg-config.
See the pkg-config man page for more details.

I am sorry, it looks like it is already masked; I just had >=sys-auth/policykit-0.6 unmasked in my /etc/portage/package.unmask.
Comment 2 Romain Perier (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2009-06-21 08:10:39 UTC
i'm sorry too but i masked this packages ~8mins after his version bump into the tree, in a next future i'll mask it before commit it to avoid any confusions.
