Bug 27382 – while running `emerge system -u` on a new install, it failed

Got to point to where it said "config.status:creating config.h" and then 
crashed telling me: 
"basename.c: in function "base_len"
"basename.c:79: internal error: Segmentation fault"
"please submit a full bug report"

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1.Mount hard drives
2.Enter the chroot
3."# export CONFIG_PROTECT="-* /etc/make.conf"
4."# emerge -up system"
5."# emerge -u system"
6.Error
Actual Results:  
Told me:
"basename.c: in function "base_len"
"basename.c:79: internal error: Segmentation fault"
"please submit a full bug report"

Expected Results:  
Not sure, update packets i suppose

what was the final error message ? 
you have the comile message, but portage is supposed to spit something out too

Moving these so we can remove the "Install CD" component from "Gentoo Linux".

I apologize to everyone for this spam, but according to the bugzilla developers,
this is the only reasonable way to do this.
