Cannot reproduce here using same screen & links. emerge -pv links screen please *** Bug 273152 has been marked as a duplicate of this bug. *** (In reply to comment #1) > Cannot reproduce here using same screen & links. > > emerge -pv links screen > > please > Sry, looks like I accedently opened to bug reports :( Here's the info you requested: emerge -pv links screen These are the packages that would be merged, in order: Calculating dependencies... done! [ebuild R ] www-client/links-2.2 USE="X bzip2 gpm jpeg png ssl unicode zlib -directfb -fbcon -livecd -sdl (-svga) -tiff" 0 kB [ebuild R ] app-misc/screen-4.0.3 USE="pam -debug -multiuser -nethack (-selinux)" 0 kB Total: 2 packages (2 reinstalls), Size of downloads: 0 kB Another detail I've forgot. I'm using Putty via SSH to access the machine. I guess it could have something to do with that? Could be anything really... I have similar problem with using www-client/w3m and/or sys-process/htop with screen. (tested in PuTTY on Windows and mlterm on Linux) They worked fine some months ago. Set TERM=xterm instead of TERM=screen seems helps. sys-libs/ncurses-5.6-r2 sys-process/htop-0.8.1-r1 www-client/w3m-0.5.2-r1 -- Portage 2.1.6.13 (default/linux/x86/2008.0/desktop, gcc-4.3.2, glibc-2.9_p20081201-r2, 2.6.30-gentoo-r4 i686) ================================================================= System uname: Linux-2.6.30-gentoo-r4-i686-Intel-R-_Pentium-R-_4_CPU_3.00GHz-with-gentoo-1.12.11.1 Timestamp of tree: Thu, 27 Aug 2009 19:30:01 +0000 distcc 3.1 i686-pc-linux-gnu [enabled] ccache version 2.4 [enabled] app-shells/bash: 3.2_p39 dev-java/java-config: 2.1.8-r1 dev-lang/python: 2.6.2-r1 dev-util/ccache: 2.4-r7 dev-util/cmake: 2.6.4 sys-apps/baselayout: 1.12.11.1 sys-apps/sandbox: 1.6-r2 sys-devel/autoconf: 2.13, 2.63-r1 sys-devel/automake: 1.7.9-r1, 1.9.6-r2, 1.10.2 sys-devel/binutils: 2.18-r3 sys-devel/gcc-config: 1.4.1 sys-devel/libtool: 2.2.6a virtual/os-headers: 2.6.27-r2 ACCEPT_KEYWORDS="x86" CBUILD="i686-pc-linux-gnu" CFLAGS="-pipe -O3 -fomit-frame-pointer -march=prescott -mfpmath=sse" CHOST="i686-pc-linux-gnu" CONFIG_PROTECT="/chroot/dhcp/etc /chroot/dns/etc /chroot/dns/var/bind /chroot/stunnel/etc /etc /usr/kde/3.5/env /usr/kde/3.5/share/config /usr/kde/3.5/shutdown /usr/share/config" CONFIG_PROTECT_MASK="/etc/ca-certificates.conf /etc/env.d /etc/env.d/java/ /etc/fonts/fonts.conf /etc/gconf /etc/php/apache2-php5/ext-active/ /etc/php/cgi-php5/ext-active/ /etc/php/cli-php5/ext-active/ /etc/revdep-rebuild /etc/sandbox.d /etc/terminfo /etc/udev/rules.d" CXXFLAGS="-pipe -O3 -fomit-frame-pointer -march=prescott -mfpmath=sse" DISTDIR="/usr/portage/distfiles" EMERGE_DEFAULT_OPTS="--with-bdeps=y --keep-going" FEATURES="ccache distcc distlocks fixpackages grc parallel-fetch protect-owned sandbox sfperms strict unmerge-orphans userfetch" GENTOO_MIRRORS="http://distfiles.gentoo.org http://distro.ibiblio.org/pub/linux/distributions/gentoo" LANG="en_US.utf8" LC_ALL="en_US.utf8" LDFLAGS="-Wl,-O1" LINGUAS="zh_TW" MAKEOPTS="-j8" PKGDIR="/usr/portage/packages" PORTAGE_CONFIGROOT="/" PORTAGE_RSYNC_OPTS="--recursive --links --safe-links --perms --times --compress --force --whole-file --delete --stats --timeout=180 --exclude=/distfiles --exclude=/local --exclude=/packages" PORTAGE_TMPDIR="/var/tmp" PORTDIR="/usr/portage" PORTDIR_OVERLAY="/usr/local/portage/generated /usr/local/portage/gentoo-taiwan /usr/local/portage/jokey /usr/local/portage/mozilla /usr/local/portage/ku /usr/local/portage/override" SYNC="rsync://rsync.gentoo.org/gentoo-portage" USE="X a52 aac acpi alsa apache2 ares bash-completion berkdb branding bzip2 cairo canna cdparanoia cdr cgi cjk cli cracklib crypt cscope ctype curl curlwrappers dbus dri dts dvd dvdr dvdread emboss encode evo exif fam fbcon ffmpeg firefox flac fortran ftp gd gdbm gif gnutls gpm gstreamer gtk hal iconv imap isdnlog ithreads javascript jpeg kde libnotify libwww logrotate lzo mad maildir mbox mikmod mmx mp3 mp4 mpeg mudflap musepack ncurses nls nptl nptlonly nsplugin nvidia ogg oggvorbis opengl openmp pam pcre pdf perl php plasma png ppds pppd python qt3support qt4 quicktime readline reflection samba sdl session slp smp spell spl sqlite sqlite3 sse sse2 sse3 ssl startup-notification svg sysfs tcpd theora threads thunar tiff truetype unicode usb vim-syntax vorbis wavpack win32codecs x264 x86 xcomposite xml xorg xsl xulrunner xv xvid zh_TW zip zlib" ALSA_CARDS="intel8x0" ALSA_PCM_PLUGINS="adpcm alaw asym copy dmix dshare dsnoop empty extplug file hooks iec958 ioplug ladspa lfloat linear meter mmap_emul mulaw multi null plug rate route share shm softvol" APACHE2_MODULES="*" APACHE2_MPMS="worker" ELIBC="glibc" INPUT_DEVICES="evdev" KERNEL="linux" LCD_DEVICES="bayrad cfontz cfontz633 glk hd44780 lb216 lcdm001 mtxorb ncurses text" LINGUAS="zh_TW" USERLAND="GNU" VIDEO_CARDS="nvidia fbdev" Unset: CPPFLAGS, CTARGET, FFLAGS, INSTALL_MASK, PORTAGE_COMPRESS, PORTAGE_COMPRESS_FLAGS, PORTAGE_RSYNC_EXTRA_OPTS this patch to app-misc/screen-4.0.3-r4 solves the problem for me 86c86 < epatch "${FILESDIR}"/${P}-setenv_autoconf.patch --- > #epatch "${FILESDIR}"/${P}-setenv_autoconf.patch 90c90 < epatch "${FILESDIR}"/${PV}-extend-d_termname-ng2.patch --- > #epatch "${FILESDIR}"/${PV}-extend-d_termname-ng2.patch This version of screen, as well as the patch, is no more in Portage.
