The last timestamp seems to be from "Sun, 24 Aug 2003 17:31:07 +0000" (date -uR format). Did you stop the syncing? Well.. *blush* Looks like my vcron wasn't running after all. Fixed now. Those dates are from a manual run. Rsync should update in 22 mins. Ok.. looks like neither my ntpd nor cron is not working. I'll get back to you when I have fixed everything for real. Ok. Everything should be better now. Cron is updating from public servers. I've added 213.139.166.100 to the access list for rsync1.us.gentoo.org. Please update your rsync cron jobs to point to rsync1.us.gentoo.org and post back here when you've done so. We'll monitor the server for a couple days to make sure things are working fine. Thanks. Cron job updated. There have been a few missed syncs and a block of time with none (or incomplete)
and a really late one. Most likely this is a problem on our end that we won't
be able to fix very quickly (running out of RAM). We're working on removing
some non-rsync related duties off that machine. We're also working on replacing
it, but that isn't for quite a while yet.
I'll monitor for a bit more, but we may have to hold off on adding this mirror
until we can fix these problems.

Most nonsync problems are related to my current ISP's service quality and/or this Cisco vdsl box just can't handle the traffic. I actually was afraid of this before even trying to set this mirror up. I thought I would have missed a lot more syncs to various disconnects and today's total network outage. Perhaps it is better not to try this any further - at least with the current setup. I don't want any problems to Gentoo users and current mirrors seem to be holding up well without my help. I shutdown my rsync for now. I'll be back when/if things get better. Thanks for the effort. |
