Workaround discovered: use old ATA drivers instead of Serial ATA drivers. This allows 2.6.29.4 to boot, and I'm pretty sure 2.6.28 will boot with this change as well. The suggestion to use "libata.ignore_hpa=1" fixed it for me. Upstream is working on various patches for 2.6.31 to address the problem. The bug should be closed in Gentoo's bug tracker unless Jacob is still having problems. Appears to be fixed with a kernel parameter with future patches planned. |
