Bug 270694

Summary: x11-terms/rxvt-unicode-9.06 fails to compile with glibc-2.10.1
Product: Gentoo Linux Reporter: Francisco J. Vazquez <dv>

Description Francisco J. Vazquez 2009-05-21 10:23:59 UTC
Emerging rxvt-unicode fails with the following error:

x86_64-pc-linux-gnu-g++ -I.. -I. -I. -I./../libev -DHAVE_CONFIG_H -I/usr/include/freetype2   -march=core2 -O2 -pipe -w -DDEBUG_STRICT  -c command.C
command.C: In member function ‘void rxvt_term::process_xterm_seq(int, const char*, char)’:
command.C:3339: error: invalid conversion from ‘const char*’ to ‘char*’
make[1]: *** [command.o] Error 1
make[1]: Leaving directory `/var/tmp/portage/x11-terms/rxvt-unicode-9.06/work/rxvt-unicode-9.06/src'
make: *** [all] Error 1

The line 3339 that fails in command.C is:

char *eq = strchr (str, '='); // constness lost, but verified to be ok

I assume this is related to this: http://udrepper.livejournal.com/20948.html (see the C++ compliance part) so it's related to glibc-2.10.1

Reproducible: Always

Patch in URL, please try it out.

Fedora people tend to call everything related to glibc-2.10 gcc-4.4 bugs because they switched both at around the same time.
Comment 2 Francisco J. Vazquez 2009-05-22 00:08:03 UTC
The patch works ok with rxvt-unicode-9.06, thanks.
Comment 3 Alex Alexander (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2009-05-24 22:20:49 UTC
this worked for me as well (gcc-4.4 && glibc-2.10.1)

thanks :)
