correction: xfce-base/xfdesktop doesent't need fam,its only depend on thunar What exactly are you asking for? Thunar hard-depends on virtual/fam and I can't see any switch to disable fam support, so we can't disable the support. The dependency also seems to be an automagic dependency, so if we actually change the current ebuild we get the behaviour described by you. Thunar has an hard-depends on virtual/fam, but it only need a soft depend on it. So it will be nicer to have a new flag "fam" on it. Yeah, but like I said, there's no switch to enable/disable FAM support for thunar, so the only way would be an automagic dependency which is worse than hard-depending on it May you are right. But i think better than a hard depending is no depending on fam . The decision, if or if not fam should be supported will decided by thunar for itself. So users with and without fam can install it. Uhm, no. That kind of dependencies are bad exactly because of what you mentioned in your first post. Ok, automagic dependancies are bad. If upstream implements a switch to enable or disable fam support, then we will make a USE flag. Until then, nothing can be done here. I suggest taking your request to http://bugzilla.xfce.org/ Thanks for understanding and reporting your trials. |
